Have you heard about Kiva?

Kiva.org allows individuals to make $25 loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world (microfinance). By doing so, individuals like you provide affordable working capital for the poor (money to buy a sewing machine, livestock, etc.), empowering them to earn their way out of poverty. Where should NC UVIM send teams in 2010 and 2011?

Do you know of a project that would benefit from a series of teams? Do you know of a project that needs more missioners to know about it? Do you have a favorite project that you would like others to learn about? Do you have a favorite destination or country that others in the conference should know about? Do you have a suggestion for a project or destination that NC UMVIM could focus on over the next two years?
NC UMVIM sends 4 to 5 teams each year made up of team members from around the conference. The teams are led by experienced workteam leaders and the project costs (up to $3000) are paid by the conference. These conference teams are sent for many reasons, but are primarily to provide additional opportunities for United Methodists to be a part of an UMVIM workteam. It is hoped that members of these teams will go back to their home churches, introduce others to short-term missions, and encourage their churches and districts to send teams.
The NC UMVIM committee will soon meet and decide on destinations for the next 2 years. If you have any suggestions, please send them by email to Bill Gross at bgross@alltel.net. They will be greatly appreciated.
